Performance & Technology
Speed benchmarks, Core Web Vitals, and technology assessment for Haus & Kinder
Mobile PageSpeed Score
A mobile lab score of 55, mid-pack against SPACES (53) and Story@Home (61). Real Chrome users get a fast, stable first load, so the lab score is a page-weight problem, not a slow site.
Competitive Comparison
Benchmarked against 4 leading Home & Living stores in your market
| Store | Mobile Score | Desktop Score | Mobile LCP | Mobile CLS | Mobile TBT |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Haus & Kinder (Client) | 55 | 55 | 9.8s | 0.000 | 306ms |
| SPACES | 53 | 67 | 9.0s | 0.010 | 391ms |
| Story@Home | 61 | 59 | 5.3s | 0.279 | 130ms |
| Nestasia | 67 | 57 | 9.6s | 0.000 | 29ms |
| Sleepycat | 72 | 95 | 6.2s | 0.014 | 56ms |
⚠ Note: SPACES scores lower than Haus & Kinder on mobile PageSpeed. This reflects the Home & Living category average — even established brands in this space struggle with mobile performance. The opportunity is to leapfrog the category, not just match it.
Core Web Vitals — Google's UX Quality Signals

What This Means for Revenue
Haus & Kinder scores 55/100 on mobile in Google's Lighthouse lab test — ahead of SPACES (53), just behind Story@Home (61) and Nestasia (67), with Sleepycat leading at 72. The silver lining is strong: Chrome User Experience Report field data, measured over 28 days of real visitors, passes every Core Web Vital — LCP 2.0s, FCP 1.6s, CLS 0.000 and INP 195ms. Real shoppers already experience a quick, steady page. The lab score is dragged down by sheer page weight: the homepage downloads about 33 MB on mobile, most of it three autoplay hero videos, and the GoKwik side-cart script loads twice. Lab LCP lands at 9.8s because the hero banner competes with those videos for bandwidth on a throttled phone connection. Serving lighter mobile video (or a poster image until tap), resizing oversized images and de-duplicating the cart script is a contained fix that protects the strong field numbers as traffic shifts to slower networks.
Technology Stack
Platform
Shopify
Hosted Shopify store, INR storefront, 500+ product catalogue; checkout and cart are handed to GoKwik.
Theme
Taiga 7.1.0
- Type: Shopify theme, customised (live theme labelled 'hotfixes')
- Taiga 7.1.0 with custom product buy bar, offer ribbons and bundle-code blocks
- Sticky buy bar, predictive search and size/pattern/thread-count filters all work
Checkout & Payments
GoKwik Checkout with KwikCart side drawer and KwikPass login via GoKwik (payment routing); underlying processor not verified
- Guest checkout: handled by GoKwik, with a mobile-number (KwikPass) sign-in prompt
- Express checkout: GoKwik one-tap Pay Now with UPI app icons inside the cart drawer
- Paytm, PhonePe and GPay icons on Pay Now; COD and secure payments shown on the PDP
Technology Assessment
Haus & Kinder runs on Shopify with a customised Taiga theme and a GoKwik checkout stack (KwikCart drawer, one-tap UPI Pay Now, KwikPass login). The storefront basics are strong: sticky buy bar, predictive search, rich filters and Core Web Vitals that pass in the field. The gaps are in the cart drawer, which shows no price breakdown or shipping information, and in a heavy homepage that depresses the lab mobile score.
UX & Conversion Findings
Page-by-page analysis with visual comparisons against top Home & Living stores
- The customer-count, cash-on-delivery, easy-returns and secure-payment icons only appear after the last content block, just above the footer.
- Most visitors never scroll that far, so the strongest reassurance never meets them while they decide whether to stay.
- Add a compact trust strip right below the hero banner with the same four reassurances.
- Keep the strip to one short row so it supports the offers instead of competing with them.
- Story@Home puts a free-delivery, COD and fast-dispatch icon strip directly under its homepage hero.
- Each tile shows only a photo, a title and a price, so shoppers cannot tell which other sizes of the same print exist.
- Sizes live in separate products, so finding the matching double or king version means extra back-and-forth.
- Add small size chips or an 'also in double / king' link on each tile that goes straight to the sibling product.
- Show how many colourways a print comes in, so shoppers browse within a design instead of leaving.
- None of the four competitors shows sizes on bedding tiles yet, so this is a chance for Haus & Kinder to stand out.
- Tiles for products with no reviews still show a star with a zero count, which reads as a bad score rather than as new.
- Next to tiles with strong ratings, the empty ones look weaker than the product really is.
- Show the rating badge only when a product has reviews, and use a neutral 'New' tag otherwise.
- Bring the best-rated designs to the top of the default sort so social proof leads the page.
- SPACES shows star ratings only on tiles that have reviews, so unreviewed products never look neglected.
- Nothing near the buy buttons says whether delivery is free or what it costs; the policy page only says charges apply below an unstated amount.
- Shoppers who suspect a surprise delivery fee at checkout hesitate or leave.
- Add a one-line shipping message under the price, such as free delivery above a stated order value.
- Repeat the same line in the cart so the promise stays consistent.
- Story@Home shows Free delivery and COD available right above Add to Cart on its product page.
- The page promises same-day dispatch, but shoppers cannot see when the order will actually reach their home.
- Without a delivery date, dispatch speed is only half the answer for a heavy bedding order.
- Add a pincode field next to the dispatch line that returns an estimated delivery date and COD availability.
- Save the pincode so later pages and the cart can reuse it.
- Story@Home shows a delivery date check by pincode with free delivery and COD ticks on its product page.
- The page advertises multi-bedsheet offers, yet only a single Add To Cart is offered with no way to choose how many.
- Shoppers must add, open the cart and raise the quantity, which hides the saving they came for.
- Add a quantity stepper above Add To Cart, and show the offer price update live as the quantity changes.
- Pair it with a quick 'add a second sheet' prompt to make the multi-buy feel effortless.
- SPACES places a quantity stepper directly above its Add to Cart button.
- The reviews section shows short written comments only, with no customer photos or videos.
- For fabric and print, shoppers want to see the real bedsheet on a real bed; without it colour doubt stays unresolved.
- The section sits far down the page, well after the buy buttons.
- Invite buyers to upload photos in the post-purchase review request and show a photo strip at the top of the reviews.
- Make the star rating near the title jump to the reviews.
- Sleepycat shows a Customer photos and videos strip right above its review list.
- Below the items the drawer shows a single estimated total and nothing else.
- Without a visible subtotal, discount and shipping line, shoppers cannot tell what is included, which slows the final decision.
- Add a compact summary above the pay button with subtotal, offer discount, shipping and total.
- Label shipping clearly, even when it is free or calculated at the next step.
- Sleepycat's cart drawer lists subtotal, total discount and total, plus a free-shipping note.
- Nothing in the drawer mentions delivery charges or any shipping threshold.
- The offer unlock panel exists, but it is hidden behind the offers link, so shoppers are not nudged to add more while they are in the cart.
- Show a progress bar at the top of the drawer that says how much more to add to reach free shipping.
- Link the bar to the matching add-on row so the nudge ends in an easy add.
- None of the four competitors shows a free-shipping progress bar yet, so this is a chance to stand out; it is a proven best practice for growing basket size.
- On the product page the original price is struck through with a big percentage saving, but the cart item shows only the selling price.
- With one item in the cart there is no you-save line at all, so the deal that won the shopper no longer shows at the moment of paying.
- Savings are only called out once a bundle code applies.
- Show the struck-through original price on each line item and a total-saved line in the summary.
- Include the product-page discount in the saved figure, not only the bundle code.
- Nestasia keeps the struck-through MRP on each cart item and shows a You saved line in the cart footer.
